This exhibits Paul was saying Jesus is our “Mercy Seat.” Because the Mercy Seat was situated inside the Temple, and beyond the veil (which is stated to now be Jesus’ flesh [see Hebrews 10:20]—one other reference to the Temple) of the Holy of Holies, we will see right here one other reference to Jesus being our MOST HOLY.

John stated Jesus is our atonement…

1 John 2:2
(2) And he is the propitiation [atonement] for our sins: and not for ours only, but in addition for the sins of the whole world.

Paul stated Jesus is our meeting place [Mercy Seat] via which we will speak with God…

John stated that Jesus was the Temple of the New Jerusalem (the Church)…

Revelation 21:22
(22) And I noticed no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

The time period “Holy of Holies” is a rabbinic evasive synonym for “where the presence of God dwells.” Each good Apostolic ought to amen that understanding because “where the presence of God dwells” completely describes Jesus!!

Jesus WAS WHERE GOD WAS! The Holy of HOLIES is a double emphasis that says “GOD OF GODS.” or “LORD of LORDS.” To say that this was NOT JESUS misses every part that the Oneness preachers I do know stand for.

Dispensationalists claim this “anoint the Most Holy” refers to a future Jewish Temple. But since there is not ONE SCRIPTURE that claims there ever might be such a Temple we will deduce that this can’t be the case. In addition to, Jesus stated He was GREATER than the Temple.

Matthew 12:6
(6) However I say unto you, That in this place is one larger than the temple.

Hebrews 9:11
(11) But Christ being come a high priest of good issues to return, by a larger and extra good tabernacle, not made with palms, that is to say, not of this building;

Hebrews 10:19-20
(19) Having subsequently, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
(20) By a new and dwelling approach, which he hath consecrated for us, via the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

Daniel refers to something higher…

These truths present that this “anointing of the Most Holy” have to be referring to something larger than a constructing…something higher like probably the most Holy—Jesus. He was the One who was referred to as “Emmanuel,” which the Bible says is interpreted, “God with us” (see Matthew 1:23). Jesus’ coming allowed God’s presence to dwell (tabernacle) with man.

The anointing of significance that would fulfill this point from Daniel 9:24 occurred at Jesus’ baptism. That anointing was the inauguration of Jesus’ ministry for it manifested Him because the Messiah of God and ushered at first of Daniel’s 70th week. Jesus went from this anointing and commenced systematically fulfilling all of the Messianic indicators of Isaiah 61.

John 1:29-34

(29) The subsequent day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. [Make an end of sin](30) This is he of whom I stated, After me cometh a man which is most popular before me: for he was earlier than me.

This started the final week of Daniel when Jesus began His ministry of the New Covenant](32) And John bare report, saying, I noticed the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. [Anoint the Most Holy](33) And I knew him not: but he that despatched me to baptize with water, the identical stated unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
(34) And I saw, and bare report that this is the Son of God.

And to anoint the Most Holy, kodesh kodashim, “the Holy of holies.” mashach, to anoint, (from which comes mashiach, the Messiah, the anointed one), signifies usually, to consecrate or appoint to some special office. Here it means the consecration or appointment of our blessed Lord, the Holy One of Israel, to be the Prophet, Priest, and King of mankind.

Isn’t it ironic that the apostle Peter, identical to Dispensationalists of immediately, was at one time confused about God’s want for a manmade physical dwelling place for His Spirit? Peter was the apostle that prompt constructing Moses, Elijah, and Jesus a physical dwelling place on the Mount of Transfiguration.
